Meet Dan Wiseman.

Nearly two decades in public safety have taught me that success rarely comes from talent alone. It comes from preparation, leadership, and making the right decisions long before opportunity arrives.

I’m a law enforcement lieutenant with experience spanning patrol, specialty assignments, personnel, public information, and executive management. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of leading teams, mentoring future leaders, and helping others navigate some of the most challenging moments of their careers.

Outside of work, I’m a husband and father of four. My family keeps me grounded and reminds me every day that leadership isn’t just about what happens at work—it’s about the example we set, the relationships we build, and the legacy we leave behind.

MERIT was built from that belief—to provide public safety leadership coaching that helps ambitious law enforcement, fire, corrections, dispatch, EMS, and civilian public safety professionals prepare for what’s next with practical guidance from someone who’s been there.

Why I Started MERIT.

Early in my career, I experienced firsthand how frustrating it can be to work hard, stay committed, and still wonder why opportunities seem to come easier for others.

That experience shaped the way I approached leadership and professional development. I became intentional about learning, preparing, and helping others avoid the same uncertainty I once faced.

Today, MERIT exists to provide the guidance, strategy, and support I wish I’d had earlier in my career.

Preparation creates opportunity.

I don’t believe in generic advice or motivational speeches.

I believe in honest conversations, practical strategies, and helping good people become exceptional leaders.

Whether you’re preparing for a specialized assignment, a promotion, or simply trying to determine your next step, my goal is the same: help you walk into every opportunity prepared and confident.
